Bubbi Interview

A flickr friend interviewed me in may or june for his own toy magazine, he just made the magazine for his interest and circulate with friends, and im still waiting for his copy :D

Q: what do u mean youre not a special person?? you are to me and the rest of the treeson&ren followers.
A: i am just an ordinary person :) but thank you for your kind words :D
Q: How did you came up with the idea of treeson and ren anyways,did the pen moved by itself as though it was meant to be part of this world??
A: i love to think on my way to work and whenever i have idea, i would write/draw on my sketchbook, the idea of the story would be from the article about deforestation i read at that time, and would like to draw a story to bring out the message.
Q: Do u believe that in order to create, you have to be inspired by others??
A: Sometime i just got idea suddenly, but most of the time i have to be inspired by surrounding things, friends, music,film...etc.
Q: does boredom squeezes more creative juice in you???
A: to a certain extent,but my most creative period is my most busy period, and i would just sleep or take a breakwhen i am bored.
Q:what was it like to work with crazy label??
A: it is a nice experience to work with crazylabel, we discuss on every steps / process, and i am not familar with toy production, i learnt a lot about toy production from crazylabel.
Q: how did that come about, did you contact him or the other way around??
A: In September 2005, andy from crazylabel approached me about a project - to make one of my characters to be a"TOY". I was overwhelmed by his proposal, and we chose"Treeson" finally.
Q: Who came up with the idea of having a treeson toy??was it you??
A: in fact, i sent a catalogue of my characters/illustration to andy to choose, he chose 4-5 characters, and treeson is one of them, and we discussed about each characters, and I suggested treeson b/c he is the only one character with a story among the chosen characters, so we chose treeson finally.
Q: Were you excited knowing that a character of yours will be a toy?
A: yes, and i am so happy about it
Q: you must've been proud seeing treeson in a toy form??
A: i am so proud of treeson, he is so cute and i feel i am connected with him when i look at his face.
Q: is there a reason why you have treeson toy and not have a ren as well?
A:i am new to the toy industry, and still not sure if people like my design or not, so it's the reason to make treeson a toy first.
Q: In chinese; REN means A person?? so anyone who buys a treeson can be ren?
A: I think some people may think that way, but Ren is unique to Treeson in my view.
Q: what is it like to be bubi for a day???
A: That would be busy, may feel headache from time to time:)
